Our Team Volunteers' Experiences

This year's June was a bit different than the previous ones. And that's because I decided to travel to the neighbouring Turkey through an ESC team volunteering project and spend the month in Ankara. It was a fantastic experience with various activities. Our daily routine included lessons at our local primary school aiming to help students practice their English and learn about the different parts of the world. Playing games and laughter were an important ingredient of our daily school routine. The activities continued at the summer camp where, except from english games, we had the opportunity to become coach assistants in tennis, learn the basic moves and have a great time all together at the court. Finally, the language classes were another nice aspect of the experience since not only we had the chance to learn Turkish every week but also to get to know the basics of Ukrainian, Polish, Italian, Spanish, German, Romanian, French and Greek. It was a unique experience full of joy, learning and new friendships!

My experience volunteering with GENÇ GİRİŞİM in Ankara was an absolute joy!  Working with sports activities, I saw the incredible happiness and sense of community that physical activity brings. Watching the kids’ faces light up with enthusiasm and celebrating their progress with volunteers from around the world was deeply rewarding. Every smile and small victory felt like a shared celebration of success. The language lessons were equally uplifting.
Helping learners advance and seeing their confidence blossom was truly heartwarming. The vibrant cultural exchanges, enriched by the diverse backgrounds of my fellow volunteers, created meaningful connections and allowed us to share in each other’s unique stories and experiences. This experience was a vivid reminder that while the world is vast, volunteering provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with people from all corners of the globe. It was more than just completing tasks ,it was about forming genuine bonds and becoming part of a global community. I left with a profound sense of joy and accomplishment, and a renewed appreciation for how we can positively impact each other's lives.
