Summary

Mental health is a neglected subject in many countries. When we speak about health in general, we focus primarily on physical health, which can be eye spotted, contrary to the mental conditions that are harder to identify and maintain hidden. Various factors influence youth mental health. Some come from external things, while others have origins deeper inside us. Besides profoundly rooted circumstances such as family problems or loss, abuse, physically ill and others, the Covid pandemic affected all areas and aspects of everyone's life in the last two years and didn't bypass our mental health either. The pandemic left far-reaching consequences in all segments of society. It has - and will continue to have - an unprecedented impact on youth mental health.
Emotions are universal for all cultures and religions and are shared by everyone. Each person would benefit immensely from developing and improving the skills of recognizing and managing their emotions effectively. This would positively affect their personal and social lives and bring prosperity to the community. By recognizing our emotions, besides increasing our own self-awareness, we also become able to understand other people's emotions better and manage our own more easily.
With this youth exchange, we want to provide young people with a safe place and environment to explore their inner selves, feelings, prejudices, fears, and impulsive behaviours. Consequently, in correlation with the project's aim, the proposed objectives are:
- to raise awareness of the importance of preserving mental health among young people;
- to empower young people with knowledge and skills to nourish their mental health;
- to help young people understand aspects of emotional intelligence and develop emotional literacy;
- to educate young people on how to understand and take control over negative feelings and emotions;
- to raise participants' awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries, offering them the opportunity to build networks of international contacts, participate in society actively and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity.
